Our Mission Statement

Our Mission Statement

Goodness & Mercy International’s mission is to bring God’s goodness and mercy to children from disadvantaged backgrounds by helping with their spiritual growth, improving their academic and mental capabilities, and breaking the cycle of food insecurity.

Our Vision Statement

Our vision is to see each child achieve their God given potential by living a full life.

Our Core Values

Goodness & Mercy International has five core values that are fundamental and guiding principles that determine our actions.

• We are Christians

We believe in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Christ is the center of our individual lives and central to our very survival; therefore, it is our desire that the people we work with and serve, especially children, receive the best spiritual, academic, physical and social training essential for their future.

Through the abundant love, grace, and mercy of God, we derive our holistic understanding of our response to human need. We seek to follow Christ’s teachings – in his identification with the poor, the oppressed, the marginalized; in his special concern for children; in his respect and value for all; in his challenge to break cycles of poverty; in his call to share resources with those in need; and in his love for all people without discrimination.

We will maintain our identity as followers of Christ, while being sensitive to the diverse social, cultural and religious contexts in which we express that identity.

• We practice love, hospitality and solidarity

We view hospitality as one of the pillars of a Christ-centered faith. We are called to love our neighbors and make all people feel welcome regardless of age, ethnicity or economic status.

We respond to the call to serve children living in poverty and address their physical, social, academic, spiritual and emotional needs for food, shelter, protection and self-worth, to transform the poor conditions they face daily.

We choose to show solidarity with poor children by working alongside them and encouraging them towards fullness of life. We respect these little ones as important citizens of the community and in the world, not passive recipients of aid. The children we work with serve as examples from whom others may learn, receive and give to as well. Together we acknowledge their value and dignity as our future leaders.

• We are stewards

We are stewards of the God-given resources at our disposal; they are not our own. As stewards, we live with an eternal perspective and take the resources around us and fashion them into diverse avenues to help children who are economically disadvantaged through no fault of theirs.

As stewards we are accountable to the donors and faithfully and honestly manage the resources given in a manner that brings maximum benefit to those in need. We fully abide by high standards of professional competence and open accountability to our donors, project communities, and the public at large. We strive for consistency between our values and what we do.

We are stewards of God’s creation. We care for all people equally and our driving motivation is first and foremost our love for God and next our self-concern and love for people especially children in need.

We ensure that our projects and activities demonstrate our stance as keepers of God’s creation. We are committed to being effective stewards of the planet’s scarce resources and ensure that our projects and activities protect the environment for the sake of future generations.

• We value children

We regard all children as created in the image of God and loved by Him. We believe that every child has innate dignity that is why we place value and respect for children at the heart of all projects and activities we organize.

We value children more than money, and other institutional machinery. We act in ways that respect and celebrate their uniqueness and intrinsic worth and challenge the social, cultural and economic structures and systems that prevent children from rising out of poverty.

• We invest in development

We aim to remove social, economic and cultural barriers that hinder children from attaining their goals of self-sufficiency by generating opportunities and changes within the environment children living in poverty find themselves. We first invest in personal development, helping children develop godly character, identity, attitude and skills necessary to overcome life’s challenges.

We also invest in community development that renews the institutions and systems in poor communities by looking beyond the individual well-being to lay a foundation of wholeness than can help other children.
